A 3-year-old boy from India, Sarwagya Singh Kushwaha, has become the youngest person in history to earn an official chess rating from the International Chess Federation. At just three years and seven months old, he achieved a rapid rating of 1,572, far surpassing the minimum needed, after competing against and defeating much older rated players in official tournaments. Sarwagya began learning chess last year and now spends several hours a day practicing at a training center and online. Despite being barely tall enough to reach the table, he already understands tactics, notation, and strategy at a level far beyond his age. His achievement marks a remarkable milestone for the sport and highlights the power of early curiosity, dedication, and talent in young children.
