Helping Former Inmates Thrive

1 min read

After spending more than two decades in prison, a Georgia man is using his experiences to help others rebuild their lives after incarceration. Genesis Asiatic entered prison at age 23 unable to read, but during his sentence, he earned his GED and became a tutor, discovering the power of education and mentorship. Today, he works with The Life Unit Prison Help & Support Services, an organization that helps formerly incarcerated individuals find employment, access resources, and navigate the challenges of returning home. Asiatic often shares his story with fellow formerly incarcerated individuals at community events, and works with local leaders in Clayton County, Georgia to increase resources available to those leaving the prison system. By supporting others facing similar circumstances, Asiatic hopes to help people break the cycle of incarceration and build more promising futures.
