World’s Most Livable Cities
The Economist Intelligence Unit's 2026 Global Livability Index ranked Copenhagen as the world's most livable city for the second year in a row, recognizing its high quality of life across healthcare, education, infrastructure, stability, and culture. The annual report evaluated 173 cities worldwide using more than 30 indicators that measure the everyday factors contributing to a good place to live. Vienna and Melbourne rounded out the top three, while Sydney, Zurich, Geneva, Osaka, Adelaide, Vancouver, and Tokyo also made the top 10. Researchers noted that many of the highest-ranked cities share strong public services, reliable infrastructure, access to healthcare and education, and safe, stable communities. The report offers a look at how thoughtful urban planning and long-term investment can create cities where people are healthier, more connected, and able to enjoy a higher quality of life.
