Wedding bells are ringing at a retirement home in Austin, Texas, where residents Bernard Snyder and Jo Cartwright recently tied the knot. Snyder, 98, first moved into the facility with his former wife in 2017, but after her passing in 2023, he faced deep loneliness. Having been married for 73 years, he missed the companionship that had shaped so much of his life. Then, Cartwright caught his eye, and he eventually mustered the courage to invite her to dinner. Cartwright, also a widow, had given up on finding love again—until she met Snyder. Their connection quickly blossomed, and they were engaged within a few months. Their families came together to plan a heartwarming ceremony in the retirement home’s courtyard, the very place where the couple first met. The newlyweds hope their story reminds others that it’s never too late to find love and that age is no barrier to new beginnings.
