The Earthshot Prize, a prestigious fund created by Prince William and David Attenborough, announced their five winners for 2024. Each winner receives £1 million to support their projects, all of which tackle environmental issues. The Protect & Restore Nature prize was awarded to the Altyn Dala Conservation Initiative, which works with local communities to reduce the impacts of climate change on disenfranchised populations. The Clean Our Air winner is Green Africa Youth Organization, which designed a waste management system to reduce landfills and focuses on youth empowerment. Keep IT Cool took home the funding from the Build A Waste-Free World prize. Keep IT Cool develops solar-powered refrigeration systems that keep produce safe in sub-Saharan Africa. The Revive Our Oceans prize was awarded to the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, which is an intergovernmental group that encourages world leaders to protect our oceans and wildlife. Advanced Thermovoltaic Systems, which created a system to produce electricity from waste heat, won the Fix Our Climate prize. Learn more about each winner here!
