A therapist in Leeds, West Yorkshire, has discovered an unexpected source of calm and emotional healing: her friendly flock of pet sheep. Grace Olson initially began offering equine therapy with the horses on her property, but she soon noticed that many clients naturally gravitated toward the sheep before and after their sessions. The animals seemed to sense when someone was distressed, offering quiet comfort simply by nudging in close. Clients responded with laughter, smiles and a visible sense of relaxation, helping them feel safe enough to open up and fully engage in their therapy. Olson primarily works with people facing terminal illnesses or deep emotional trauma, and the sheep have become a gentle, grounding presence during some of life’s most difficult moments. She is now writing a book about her experiences and plans to use the project to help fund free therapy sessions for those in need.
