Glenda Akin, a longtime educator at Westmoreland High School in Tennessee, has been honored with a Guinness World Record for the longest teaching career at the same school by a woman after dedicating more than 61 years to the classroom. Beginning her career in 1962, she taught social studies and later worked in the school library, becoming a steady, trusted presence for generations of students and staff. Known for her warmth, consistency, and deep commitment to education, Akin showed up year after year because she genuinely loved teaching and believed in the importance of supporting young people as they found their way. The Guinness World Record is a testament to Akin’s devotion to the classroom and impact on an entire community.
