MN’s Cannabis Grants

Minnesota’s Office of Cannabis Management is distributing nearly one million dollars in grants to 11 nonprofit organizations across the state, using funds from the new legal cannabis tax. The grants are going to programs in communities that have been disproportionately harmed by decades of cannabis prohibition—places where residents suffered from higher rates of criminalization or economic harm. The idea is to invest in local groups doing work like public health, youth support, violence prevention, and legal aid so these communities can begin to heal and rebuild. The initiative represents more than money— it’s a gesture of acknowledgment, equity, and hope, showing how new policies can repair past wrongs and build a more just future.
