Bestselling novelist James Patterson has launched a generous new initiative called “Go Finish Your Book” to support emerging writers. Through this program, 12 authors have each received grants of up to $50,000 to help them finally complete their manuscripts—whether memoirs, graphic novels, or short stories. Patterson emphasized how many meaningful stories never see the light of day because of life’s demands, and this initiative aims to give writers the time, space, and encouragement they need. Jungin Angie Lee, one of the recipients, said the grant has given her the boost of motivation and confidence she needed to finish her short story collection about being a caregiver for a disabled family member. Patterson’s campaign sends a powerful message that every voice matters, and was created in partnership with famed writing organizations like PEN America, the Authors Guild, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop.
