David Serkin, a cancer survivor from Lethbridge, Alberta, has defied the odds by winning the lottery four times over the past 13 years—three of those wins coming since August 2024 and totaling nearly $2.5 million. His most recent win, a $1 million prize from the Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball draw in May 2025, is the latest in a streak he credits to persistence and gratitude, especially after overcoming cancer. Serkin, who has been buying tickets for over 40 years, says he never imagined winning once, let alone four times. He’s used his winnings to treat his loved ones—including a trip to Maui for his wife and an upcoming getaway to Newfoundland—and has also helped friends in need. Despite his incredible luck, he remains humble, calling each win a blessing and a reminder to live life fully and give back when you can.
