Forget-Me-Knot Football Club

A group of bereaved fathers in the UK are finding support and connection through a football team called Forget-Me-Knot FC. The club was started by a father who experienced the loss of his young child and struggled to find spaces where men could openly process grief, especially in a culture where many feel pressure to stay silent. What began with just a handful of dads has grown into a regular team that meets to train and play informal matches against local teams, using football as a way to create routine, camaraderie, and a safe environment for conversation. Many players wear their child’s name on their jersey, and the shared experience allows them to connect without needing to explain their loss. Over time, the team has expanded into a wider support network, helping men who might otherwise feel isolated find community, purpose, and a way to navigate grief together.
