A 6-year-old rescue pug named Jinny Lu has been crowned the 2026 winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog Contest, an annual competition that celebrates unconventional-looking pups while promoting animal adoption. Jinny Lu was originally found living in a wooden box in freezing conditions in the mountains of South Korea before being rescued, brought to the United States, and adopted by Michelle Grady in California. After competing in the contest four times and finishing second last year, Jinny Lu finally took home the top prize at the event’s 50th anniversary celebration. She won $5,000 and will even appear on limited-edition MUG Root Beer cans. More importantly, the contest uses its playful premise to celebrate rescue dogs and remind people that every animal deserves love and a home, regardless of its appearance.
