A new United Nations report shows that their Sustainable Development Goals have already improved the lives of billions of people over the past decade, demonstrating that global cooperation can produce meaningful results. Since the goals were adopted in 2015, nearly 1 billion people have gained access to safe drinking water, 1.2 billion now have improved sanitation, electricity reaches 92% of the world's population, and internet access has grown to 74% worldwide. New HIV infections have fallen by 30%, AIDS-related deaths have dropped by 35%, child labor has declined, and renewable energy capacity continues to grow. While the report acknowledges that more work is needed to meet the 2030 targets, it emphasizes that sustained investment, innovation, and collaboration have already delivered vast improvements in health, education, clean energy, and quality of life for communities around the world.
