Japan has unveiled its first residential home 3D-printed almost entirely from soil. The Lib Earth House Model B, a single-story, 100-square-meter dwelling in Yamaga, Kumamoto Prefecture, was created through a collaboration between architects, engineers, and 3D-printing specialists. Instead of concrete, the structure uses a sustainable mix of soil, lime, and natural fibers—cutting construction-related CO₂ emissions in half while still meeting Japan’s highest earthquake-resistance standards. This innovative project blends advanced technology with eco-friendly materials, offering a glimpse into a future of affordable, sustainable housing that can be utilized around the world.
