Bill Brown, affectionately known as “Mr. Bill,” has turned a humble home garden into a thriving food bank serving thousands each week in North Central Florida. At 96 years old, he continues to lead his nonprofit, The Children’s Table, which provides nutritious meals, disaster relief, and gardening education to families facing food insecurity. What began in 1996 with just vegetables grown in his backyard has grown into a lifeline for the community, feeding tens of thousands of families each year and delivering over a million meals annually. His work is a testament to decades of compassion, resilience, and his unwavering belief that nobody should go hungry. Volunteers describe him as the heart of the community, often working long hours alongside them to make sure no family is left without food.
