Beder Camel Farm, located just outside Mogadishu, is leading a quietly transformative camel milk revolution in Somalia. By introducing modern veterinary care, scientifically formulated feed, and hygienic milking techniques, each camel now produces up to 10 liters of milk daily—double traditional yields. The farm also opened the country’s first camel milk yogurt facility, providing a nutritious, lactose-friendly alternative rich in vitamins C, iron, zinc, and probiotics. With around 200 full-time employees and plans to train rural herders, the initiative boosts food security, creates jobs, revives cultural pride, and positions camel products as a symbol of innovation in Somalia's agricultural future.
