An anonymous donor decided to give students graduating from Wiley College the best gift they could ask for: paying off their debts. At the graduation ceremony in Marshall, Texas, the college’s president announced that a donor had paid the debt balance of the entire graduating class, which was around $300,000. Over 100 students graduated from the HBCU this spring, all of whom were thrilled by the news. The pandemic placed a significant financial strain on many students, who were forced to take out loans after losing jobs. Now that they don’t have to worry about paying off loans, Wiley College graduates can enter the workforce without financial stress. Congratulations, graduates!
