In Nova Scotia, a young wood turtle named Root is getting a second chance at life thanks to a creative, compassionate team at the Cobequid Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. After Root suffered a spinal injury that left him unable to walk with his right front leg, veterinarians and volunteers brainstormed solutions and ultimately designed a tiny wheelchair made out of LEGO bricks. The lightweight, adjustable device lets Root move around freely while he heals, giving him the best shot at healing. Root is now expected to make a full recovery, and his story serves as a heartwarming example of how compassion and ingenuity can come together to give injured animals a second chance.
