TIME has launched its first-ever Girls of the Year list, celebrating ten extraordinary young leaders between the ages of 12 and 17 from around the world. Each honoree is making a tangible impact in fields ranging from science and technology to sports, literature, and activism. Among them are a Scottish student who invented a solar-powered thermal blanket to help people experiencing homelessness, an emerging young novelist from New Zealand, a race car driver breaking barriers in Mexico, and a Polish biotech innovator tackling health challenges with cutting-edge solutions. Created in partnership with the LEGO Group’s “She Built That” campaign, the list is designed to highlight how girls are redefining leadership and innovation, proving that you don’t need to wait until adulthood to create meaningful change. Together, these girls are challenging stereotypes, inspiring their communities, and showing that creativity and courage can spark global transformation at any age.
