13-year-old Willis Gibson is believed to be the first person to ever beat the popular video game Tetris. The Oklahoma teen, who uses the screen name Blue Scuti, reached level 157 in a 38-minute-game that he streamed online. By the time he reached the final level, Gibson’s fingers had gone numb and the game had crashed. Tetris was first released in 1984 and became famous with the proliferation of Nintendo. The premise of the game is to manipulate the location of falling shapes to create a row, and the shapes fall faster as the levels increase. Although it seems simple, the idea of beating Tetris has seemed utterly impossible to professional gamers for decades. Gibson claims he never expected to be able to complete the game, but is thrilled to become the first one to do so.
