Superfood to Save Bees

Scientists at Oxford University and Kew Gardens have created a new superfood to help honeybees stay healthy and strong. The special food is made from yeast and designed to give bees the same key nutrients they usually get from flower pollen. In controlled tests, bee colonies that ate the supplement produced up to fifteen times more larvae, stayed active for longer, and remained as healthy as wild colonies. This breakthrough marks a significant leap in synthetic biology and offers a practical solution to combat ecological threats like habitat loss and nutritional scarcity. By giving them a reliable boost, this new superfood could make a big difference in protecting bee populations and, in turn, supporting our environment and food supply.
