Scotland’s Village to Combat Homelessness

A Scottish charity is reimagining how homelessness is addressed by replacing traditional shelters with a village of fully furnished, self-contained apartments that offer people privacy and dignity. Instead of crowded and often unsafe shared accommodations, the new model provides stability and support to help them rebuild their lives and transition into permanent housing. Early results have been overwhelmingly positive, with many residents experiencing improved mental health, greater independence, and a stronger path out of homelessness. The initiative challenges long-standing approaches to homelessness, showing that investing in better living conditions and personalized support can lead to more effective long-term solutions. The project offers a hopeful, scalable model for other communities looking to address homelessness in a more humane and successful way.
