Outdoor apparel brand Patagonia has provided a $1 million grant to support regenerative farming efforts in Ventura County, California. Decades of industrial agriculture methods have left the popular farming area full of pesticides and chemicals that poison wildlife. Ventura County produces a large percentage of the country’s produce, making it a vital area to implement sustainable farming practices. With Patagonia’s grant, farmers will be introduced to alternative growing strategies that protect the soil and biodiversity in the habitat. Patagonia’s founder Yves Chouinard announced two years ago that all of Patagonia’s profits will be donated to initiatives fighting climate change and protecting the planet. Their partnership with Ventura County is one of many conservation projects the brand has underway, as they also have worked with The Nature Conservancy, The Conservation Fund, and more.
