Scientists studying yellow-bellied marmots in Colorado have found an unexpectedly creative way to keep one of the world's longest-running wildlife research projects alive. After federal funding for the 64-year study was cut, researchers at UCLA and the Rocky Mountain Biological Laboratory launched OnlyMarms, an OnlyFans page featuring photos and videos of the adorable alpine rodents in their natural habitat. The project allows supporters to leave tips that help fund research into marmot behavior, aging, social relationships, and the impacts of climate change. While the page won't replace traditional research grants, it has attracted thousands of visitors, raised thousands of dollars, and introduced a whole new audience to wildlife science. Researchers hope the lighthearted campaign will not only help preserve decades of invaluable ecological research but also inspire more people to appreciate and support scientific discovery.
