New Barbie Role Models Announced

Following the success of the Barbie movie and in honor of Barbie celebrating her 65th birthday this month, Mattel has announced its next series of Role Model Dolls, which are based on real life inspirational women in the arts. The newest Barbies include EGOT recipient Viola Davis, country superstar Shania Twain, legendary actress Helen Mirren, pop icon Kylie Minogue, Mexican director Lila Aviles, Brazilian content creator Maira Gomez, Japanese model Nicole Fujita, and German comedian Enissa Amani. The Role Model collection is part of Barbie’s Dream Gap Project, which aims to end gender stereotypes, empower girls with confidence, and share stories of remarkable women. Though the Barbies are not for sale to the public, a one-of-a-kind doll was made for each of the selected women and their stories will be shared across Mattel media.
