“Listening Tour” to Help Strangers

Motivated by a desire to connect with Canadians from diverse backgrounds, 25-year-old Jacob Armstrong set out on a cross-country trek to listen to people's personal stories and experiences. Traveling by bicycle across Canada on what he calls a “Listening Tour”, he aims to foster understanding and unity by engaging in face-to-face conversations with individuals across the country. As a prior social worker, Armstrong focuses on hearing about what matters most to people—whether it’s their dreams, fears, frustrations, or proudest moments. Many have opened up about mental health struggles, community challenges, and personal triumphs—conversations Jacob sees as vital to fostering empathy and national connection. Armstrong believes that by sharing and listening to each other's narratives, Canadians can build stronger communities and a more inclusive society.
