For the last 8,000 years, a 500-ton boulder has been precariously perched atop a smaller rock in a Finnish forest. The mysterious rock formation, which is called Kummakivi, seems to defy the laws of physics and has many Finnish myths associated with it. Old folklore claims that Kummakivi was placed there by giants, but scientists believe that the 22-foot long rock is the result of a glacier. Kummakivi resides in the Ruokolahti area, which was previously covered in glaciers that had the potential to move large objects. The stunning scene has become a unique tourist attraction for physicists, historians, environmentalists, and more.
