A British adventurer named Karl Bushby has been walking on foot across continents for over 25 years and is now entering what could be the final stretch of his project to reach his native England. He began his challenge in 1998 from Chile, aiming to walk home without using mechanical transport. Over the decades he has covered tens of thousands of miles, including a trek across the frozen Bering Strait from Alaska to Russia and a long swim across the Caspian Sea. Now in Europe, he faces the last few thousand miles and some complex logistical hurdles before he can complete his extraordinary journey. If all goes according to plan, Bushby will finish his walk around the globe next year.
