Therapy dogs from the volunteer group Just Paws are now regularly visiting the Ottawa Courthouse to bring comfort, calm and emotional support to people facing stressful moments in the legal system. Canines like Kaboom, a gentle retired racing greyhound, and Henry, a friendly labradoodle, are helping ease anxiety for victims, witnesses and anyone who needs a moment of peace in a tense environment, offering friendly companionship during difficult proceedings. The presence of these dogs and their dedicated handlers has made a tangible difference for individuals who might otherwise feel overwhelmed by the courtroom experience, showing how simple acts of kindness and unconditional love can make challenging days a little easier for people navigating the justice process.
