Blue Sky House for Women in Need

A retired couple in Tasmania, Richard and Jan Gould, are turning their savings into a lifeline for older women facing homelessness. The Goulds are converting a 10-bedroom house into long-term, affordable housing for women over 55— one of Australia’s fastest-growing demographics experiencing housing insecurity.  Each resident in Blue Sky House will have her own room, with shared kitchens and warm communal spaces designed to foster a sense of comfort, connection, and community. The project has received overwhelming support from locals, with tradespeople, businesses, and volunteers pitching in to help renovate the home. Set to open in October, Blue Sky House is not just a housing solution—it’s a symbol of generosity, dignity, and what’s possible when community and compassion come together.
