At 77 years old, Dorothy Fideli was finally ready to walk down the aisle. Not to a husband, however, but to herself. Fideli decided to celebrate the love she has for herself and her life in an emotional and symbolic wedding ceremony at her retirement home in Goshen, Ohio. Family, friends, and neighbors watched as Fideli pushed her walker down the aisle and made vows to continue practicing self-love and spreading joy to others. Fideli’s daughter, who planned the ceremony, claims that Dorothy is always bringing a smile to people’s faces, making them laugh, and supporting them through thick and thin. Fideli says the idea started as a crazy way to lift the spirits of her friends in the retirement home, but ended up being a way to honor her life and commitment to growth despite her age.
