The 2026 World Happiness Report shows that countries prioritizing community, equality, and quality of life continue to rank highest in overall happiness. Finland once again topped the list for the ninth year in a row, followed by other Nordic nations like Iceland and Denmark, with Costa Rica breaking into the top five for the first time. The rankings are based on how people evaluate their own lives, with factors like social support, freedom, generosity, and community trust playing a major role in well-being. Overall, the report highlights that countries investing in strong communities, reliable public services, and shared trust are fostering more positive, fulfilled lives— and that when people feel supported, it leads to genuine happiness.
