Positive Environmental Tipping Points
The University of Exeter’s Green Futures Solutions team has identified 51 environmental solutions that they believe could create a positive tipping point in preserving the planet. The ideas focus on proven solutions that could have an even greater impact if scaled globally, and would push the planet towards a more optimistic future. The five most promising goals are to expand marine protected areas, make supply chains deforestation-free, transition households to clean cooking and heating methods, replace disposable packaging with sustainable alternatives, and accelerate renewable energy and energy storage. Researchers say these areas are where targeted action can create a ripple effect, turning individual successes into large transformations that benefit the climate, wildlife, and communities around the world.
