Two legendary Nepali climbers are making history once again on Mount Everest after both breaking their own world records on the same day. Kami Rita Sherpa, known as the “Everest Man,” successfully reached the summit of the world’s tallest mountain for the 32nd time, extending his own record for the most Everest ascents ever. The 56-year-old guide, who first climbed Everest in 1994 and has summited nearly every year since, achieved the milestone while leading clients up the mountain. Meanwhile, 52-year-old Lhakpa Sherpa—known as the “Mountain Queen”—completed her 11th Everest summit, continuing her record as the woman with the most successful ascents of the peak. Lhakpa first made history in 2000 as the first Nepali woman to summit and descend Everest, and has since balanced her climbing career with life as a single mother. Their achievements are being celebrated across Nepal and around the world as remarkable examples of endurance, expertise, and dedication, especially during one of Everest’s busiest and most challenging climbing seasons in recent years.
