Rinascita Refugees is a one-of-a-kind team in the Italian soccer league that is composed entirely of migrants. The team, which is based in the town of Carmiano, is funded through government social programs and is designed for migrants with dreams of playing professional soccer. Many individuals leave their home countries in pursuit of becoming a professional soccer player, but few are able to overcome the challenges and dangers that come with seeking asylum in Europe. Rinascita Refugees scouts their players from local leagues and pick-up games, and has built an impressive roster of men from Senegal, Mali, Guinea, and more. The team has risen to the eighth tier of the Italian soccer league and is improving with each season. Outside of soccer opportunities, Rinascita Refugees offers players education, legal protection, and healthcare to help with their integration into Italian society.
