Meet The Team Behind: Just One More Foundation

Just One More Foundation provides opportunity for those experiencing hardships and the organizations that serve them. Their financial assistance programs target individuals working to get their lives on track and nonprofits that help people overcome obstacles. By giving people in need “just one more” chance, this foundation helps people get back on their feet with a renewed sense of hope. Learn more here

What is the story behind Just One More?

The founder of Just One More, Richard Rogers, knows the power of receiving a second chance at life. Richard was struck by lightning in 1995, which stopped his heart and left him with severe burns. After being brought back to life through CPR, it took Richard years to recover from his injuries. Richard made a promise to himself that he would spend his life giving back to others if he was able to find the strength to make it through his recovery process. The Just One More Foundation is Richard’s attempt to make good on that promise.

Can you tell me about your grant programs?

We give grants to both individuals and nonprofit organizations, and applications can be found on our website. We are interested in hearing from individuals who have experienced hardships and have a constructive plan to overcome their obstacles, as well as nonprofits that help those individuals reach their goals. We focus our work on those in the United States and prefer to fund educational tuition-based grants. Our other funding priorities are mental health, drug misuse, and health challenges. We believe that with hard work and support, people in need will rise to new heights.

Who are some of your grant recipients?

Our second chance stories are a testament to the benefits of supporting people in their time of need. In our spring 2024 cycle, we awarded 23 grants to individuals and nonprofits in 13 states. We provided financial assistance to Vets4Vets, a nonprofit that was founded by two veterans and provides free dental and oral surgery care to other veterans. Maretta Afraid of Bear was an individual recipient, and our grant will fund her studies to become a registered nurse on her reservation in South Dakota. Some of the other nonprofits we chose include Women’s Coaching Alliance, Split Second Foundation, The Launch Pad, and more.
