Furnishing Hope transforms empty spaces into welcoming homes for families and individuals in need—providing furniture and household essentials that bring comfort, stability, and a fresh start. Learn more about their work here!

Can you tell me about your mission?

Furnishing Hope provides furniture and essential supplies to individuals and families overcoming homelessness, wounded military families, and those emerging from domestic violence or foster care. Every year, thousands of families transition out of homelessness, and we help make their houses feel like home, creating dignified living spaces that foster stability, healing, and self-sufficiency. Over the past 23 years, we’ve furnished over 1,300 homes, delivered over 3,400 mattresses, and served over 600 military families.

How did Furnishing Hope start?

Furnishing Hope was founded by an interior designer who saw an opportunity to connect quality furnishings from her clients' remodels with families in need. What began as a practical way to repurpose donated home goods quickly evolved into a mission-driven organization, dedicated to transforming spaces into environments of dignity and comfort. A few years in, we made the pivotal decision to concentrate our efforts on supporting wounded military heroes and families in crisis. We recognized the challenges people were facing when transitioning to independent living, and decided to develop a model grounded in partnerships to maximize our impact.

What do your programs entail?

Our Transitioning from Homelessness program provides furniture and household items that transform empty spaces into homes. From beds and sofas to kitchen supplies and linens, these furnishings create an environment where people can rest and build a stable future. Our Wounded Military Program honors the sacrifice of service members who have given so much for our country. We work with veteran organizations to provide furnished homes for wounded and transitioning military families. These homes are designed to promote healing and comfort during a critical time of recovery and reintegration. Our Beds for Kids program provides new beds to children who would otherwise be sleeping on floors or sofas. A proper bed supports not only physical health, but also emotional well-being, helping children feel secure.

How are individuals and families connected to you?

Families are referred to Furnishing Hope through trusted nonprofits and military support agencies, and each home installation is personalized to the client's preferences. Our network of agency partners extends across Southern California, and these trusted organizations connect those in need with resources to fully furnish their new homes. Through their collaboration and shared commitment to care, we can reach individuals and families when they need support most. Some of our notable partners include Living Spaces, Houzz, Navy Wounded Warrior, Pathways of Hope, Wounded Heroes of America, Family Promise, and more.
