30 by 30 Pledge

The 30 by 30 pledge, a landmark deal to protect biodiversity, has been agreed upon by 196 countries at the United Nations Biodiversity Conference. Participating nations pledge to protect 30% of the planet by 2030. The deal is a significant win for environmentalists and animal activists alike, and is seen as the biodiversity equivalent of the 2015 Paris agreement that tackled climate change. The 30 by 30 pledge will protect vulnerable species and their habitats, revive damaged ecosystems, limit pollution, and conserve nature wherever possible so species can thrive.
