Quinta Brunson— creator and star of Abbott Elementary— launched a new initiative to help students in Philadelphia’s public schools experience the same kind of eye-opening field trips that influenced her as a child. She partnered with the School District of Philadelphia to launch the Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund, which covers the costs of museum admission, historic-site visits, and other educational outings for more than 117,000 students— many of whom attend underfunded or Title I schools. Brunson credits field trips as being the most memorable and impactful part of her elementary school years, expanding her world view of what was possible. With this fund, kids who otherwise couldn’t afford such experiences will get a chance to explore, learn, and imagine new futures beyond their everyday surroundings.
