Over 10 years ago, current and former employees of Rector A. Jones Middle School in Kentucky formed a group called the “Jones 30” to play the lottery together. They’ve played the same numbers each week, and their persistence recently paid off. The group, which includes teachers, the school nurse, counselors, and retired staff, won a $1 million prize. Each member of the Jones 30 won $24,000 with their set of lucky numbers. A retired math teacher stashed the winning ticket in page 200 of a math textbook before cashing it in at the lottery office, knowing that no one would find it there. With a big win under their belts, the Jones 30 is planning on continuing to play the lottery together.
