Stray Kitten Inspires Change

Last year, Laura Baker, the founder of Itty Bitty Kitty Rescue in Missouri, responded to a call about a stray kitten who had a plastic ring stuck around its neck. Baker took the kitten to have surgery to get the ring removed, and learned that the plastic came from packaging of the Munchkin brand’s Any Angle Cup, a sippy-cup for babies. Baker reached out to the company to inform them of the consequences of their harmful packaging, and Munchkin executives were heartbroken at the story. Munchkin did a complete rebrand of its products and packaging to ensure they are animal-safe. The packaging is now made from 70% recycled material, is compostable, and can be easily torn. Thanks to one little kitten, who Baker ultimately adopted and named Munchkin, a global brand is now eco friendly and safe for animals.
