Peru’s Surfing Terrier

Though most people flock to the beach for swimming and lounging, those at San Bartolo beach in Peru come for a different purpose— to see a surfing Jack Russell terrier. Efruz, a 4-year-old pup, can often be found in a bright yellow life jacket surfing the waves with his owner, Mauro Canella. Canella is a surf instructor who trained Efruz to balance on the front of his surfboard while he rides the waves. They’ve been surfing together for about a year, and have attracted quite a fan base in the process. Efruz absolutely loves surfing, and can spend hours gliding along the Pacific waters with his human companion.
