What is your mission?
Our mission is to feed families, spread kindness, and strengthen communities. Through our neighbor-to-neighbor movement, we connect volunteer lasagna chefs who want to help with individuals and families in need, providing home-cooked lasagnas made with love. We focus on removing barriers to asking for help, ensuring dignity and support, and delivering kindness without judgment or qualifications. Whether someone is facing financial challenges, emotional overwhelm, medical issues, or any other hardship, we strive to provide relief, hope, and connection through the simple yet profound gesture of a warm meal.
Can you tell me about the people you serve?
We’ve delivered over 600K lasagnas to families in need of some extra love and kindness, reaching 2.6M individuals overall. Over 80K volunteers across 4 countries have helped make this happen. Lasagna Love was started during the pandemic, when one mom was looking for a way to help her community. She and her toddler started making and delivering meals to families in the neighborhood who were struggling, whether that struggle was financial, emotional, or simply a feeling of overwhelm. Lasagna Love has since grown into an international movement, with thousands of people all cooking and delivering meals to families in their communities.
What does the kindness ripple effect entail?
Kindness inspires its recipients to take action in their communities, and we conducted a survey to figure out just how often that happens. 97.7% of Lasagna Love recipients surveyed shared
that they were inspired to pay it forward after receiving their meal. Even though many of our recipients are facing food insecurity or hardship, they still plan to pay it forward with goods and time. 70% of survey participants said they plan to pay it forward to a stranger, just as they were helped by an anonymous lasagna chef.
How can people get involved in your work?
Whether you are an individual looking for a way to help others or an organization ready to combat food insecurity, there is a way for you to join the kindness project. You can change lives by becoming a volunteer, becoming a sponsor, collaborating with us, or donating funds. If you love to cook and want to donate homemade meals in your community, consider becoming a volunteer. If you want to help but don’t have the time to cook, consider sponsoring one of our volunteers so they can keep making a difference in their community or donating directly to Lasagna Love.
