Virgin Galactic’s first private space mission is set to launch in August, and the passengers will include the first Olympian and first mother daughter duo to leave Earth. 80-year-old Olympic canoeist Jon Goodwin is joining the flight to raise awareness of Parkinson’s disease. Goodwin was diagnosed with Parkinson's nine years ago and hopes that this journey will show others that a diagnosis doesn’t have to hold you back from living life to the fullest. Keisha Schahaff and her daughter Anastatia Mayers secured their seats through an auction raising money for the nonprofit Space for Humanity. On the flight, Mayers will also become the second youngest person to go to space. Virgin Galactic’s Chief Astronaut Instructor, Beth Moses, will accompany the passengers on this 90 minute adventure, where they will travel 50 miles above Earth.
