33-year-old Robert Carter and his siblings were in and out of the foster care system as children, where they faced neglect and abuse over the years. As an adult, Carter knew he wanted to give back to foster kids and became a foster parent to three brothers in 2018. One night, Carter overheard the brothers discussing their two sisters, who had been placed in a different foster home. Carter was heartbroken that the siblings had been separated and made it his mission to reunite the family. After making a strong case to a Cincinnati judge, Carter was granted approval to adopt all five children. Carter says he learned how to be a great parent by not having one himself, and the new, blended family is thrilled to have found each other.
