Donating Bikes To Refugees

For those seeking asylum in the UK, having access to affordable transportation is critical in being able to gain employment. Transport poverty is a big concern, as many asylum seekers don’t make enough money to cover the cost of a car or public transport. That’s where The Bike Project steps in. The Bike Project provides free bikes and helmets to refugees and even offers bike riding lessons, which broadens refugees’ options greatly when it comes to finding a job. The Bike Project refurbishes donated and discarded bikes, distributing them in neighborhoods that are heavily populated with refugees. So far, The Bike Project has given away over 11,000 bikes in 40 cities across the UK.
