American Girl has announced their 2022 Girl of the Year: Corinne Tan. Corinne is the first ever Asian American doll to hold the title. Her story, which was written by Asian American author Wendy Shang, revolves around skiing, family, and culture. Corrine lives in Colorado with her sister and parents, where she loves to ski and explore her Chinese heritage. Her family is struggling, however, as Corinne’s parents navigate a divorce and she faces anti-Asian racism. In conjunction with the release of Corinne in stores, American Girl partnered with AAPI Youth Uprising to promote teaching Asian history and culture in schools.
