A War Dog’s New Life

Rambo, a beloved 3-year-old German Shepard, supported soldiers in their efforts on the frontlines of the war in Ukraine. The courageous canine was injured during a rocket attack and veterinarians had to reconstruct his jaw, amputate his right ear, and remove several broken teeth. Upon recovery, Rambo was deemed unfit to return to a life of war service. He was given a second chance at a meaningful career when the Budapest Police Department decided to take him in. Rambo is now being trained to work with kids, elderly adults, and disabled individuals and will accompany police around the city. The Budapest Police Department says that Rambo’s injuries help people who may look a little different than their peers feel loved and seen, and that he has been an amazing addition to the team.
