At 100 years old, a World War II veteran from Louisiana, is spreading joy to children around the world through a simple act of kindness. For the past decade, Bill Covington has spent his days in his woodworking shop handcrafting small wooden toy cars that are donated to children overseas through Operation Christmas Child, an organization that distributes shoeboxes filled with toys and essential supplies. Covington has made more than 1,000 cars over the years, including more than 100 this year alone, carefully cutting, sanding, and assembling each one by hand. A Navy veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Covington credits staying busy and finding purpose in helping others as important parts of his longevity. Although his eyesight is beginning to decline, he has no plans to stop woodworking anytime soon. With encouragement from his wife, Covington continues making toys for children he will likely never meet, demonstrating that generosity and the desire to make a difference have no age limit.
