Bessie Hendricks, the oldest person in the United States and fourth oldest person in the world, recently celebrated her 115th birthday. Hendricks spent the momentous occasion at the care facility where she resides in Lake City, Iowa, with her three children, the oldest of which is 90 years old. Hendricks has lived through two world wars and 21 presidents since she was born in 1907, and is considered a “supercentenarian” since she is older than 110. Hendricks’ children say that she has always been a hard worker and dedicated caregiver. Hendricks is only a few years behind the oldest person in the world— 118-year-old Lucile Randon, a French nun. Happy birthday, Bessie!
